Dear Parents and Guardians,
Late last evening, we were informed of significant damage to Lumen (CenturyLink) fiber optics at 5600 South 1900 West in Roy, resulting in a widespread outage affecting data networks, telecommunications, and internet services. The damaged fiber runs east to west across 1900 West, and AT&T fiber has also been impacted. Reports indicate that an on-site contractor inadvertently bored through multiple communication conduits, disrupting several data circuits. As a result, the following Roy-area schools are currently offline:
Roy High, Sandridge Jr. High, Roy Jr. High, Freedom Elementary, Roy Elementary, Hooper Elementary, and Municipal Elementary.
As of 5:30 am this morning, the damaged fiber has not been repaired.
Due to the impact on telecommunications, internet access, and school security systems, we are prioritizing safety and canceling school today for the affected schools, which were already scheduled for an early-out day.
Even if the fiber repair is completed in the next couple of hours, it will take significant time to get all systems up and running in our impacted schools.
We will provide updates as repair efforts progress.

Calling all Lady Razorbacks! Roy Jr High is hosting a Girls Basketball Camp! Come to improve your skills and get ready for basketball tryouts! The camp will take place January 21st, 23rd, and 24th from 2:45-3:45 pm in the Old Gym! Cost is $20 to participate. Please pay for the camp in the office and bring your receipt and permission slip to Mrs. Fulmer or Mr. Flores by Thursday, January 16th! See you there!
