Roy, UT — Earlier this month, students from Roy Jr. High’s Latinos in Action (LIA) program participated in the annual LIA Leadership Conference held at Weber State University, joining peers from across Utah and the Mountain West for a day focused on leadership, culture, and college readiness.
The conference provided students with valuable opportunities to connect with other LIA participants, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose among young leaders. Throughout the event, students attended a variety of workshops designed to help them prepare for their futures, with a strong emphasis on college and career readiness.
A highlight of the conference was a keynote address from Eduardo Chavez, whose message encouraged students to embrace their identity, pursue their goals, and recognize their potential to make a positive impact in their communities.
In addition to attending workshops and listening to inspiring speakers, Roy Jr. High students had the unique opportunity to showcase their talents by performing for fellow attendees at the Browning Center on the Weber State University campus. Their performance was a proud moment, reflecting both their hard work and the strength of their program.
Roy Jr. High’s LIA students represented their school with pride, demonstrating leadership, confidence, and a commitment to their education. Experiences like the LIA Leadership Conference continue to empower students to envision and pursue bright futures.
